Earlier this week there was a knock on the door and a census worker dropped off a plastic bag containing the form with an envelope for its return. I had previously thought that this would come in the mail.

So, there are no questions about where anyone was born, parents etc. I wonder if they'd mind if we attached notes to our forms for our future genealogists who might view these later?
I'm anxious to get mine too! I LOVE your idea about attaching other important information for those descendants who might have "inquiring minds".

ReplyDeleteCheryl - I'm in the eastern pan handle of West Virginia and I was surprised to see her. I received something in the mail a week or so ago stating that we soon would receive our census form - I don't recall HOW we were to receive it according to this letter but assumed that it was coming by mail. If you weren't home, she simply left the bag on your doorknob. My guess is, if you don't send in the form she'll be back :-)

ReplyDeleteThe new issue of Family Tree Magazine arrived, reminding me about this. And I wondered, "Will they count us since we don't live in the country anymore?" LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is my first experience living overseas (husband is military), so I'm waiting to see if we will get the census!
My census form was rubber-banded to my front door in a plastic bag. I was surprised to find it when I got home from work yesterday. I haven't opened it yet though. No questions about parents or birth locations? What are genealogists 40 years from now going to do???

Jenna, I agree, this doesn't look like a mighty big help to future genie researchers! I think they must've been feelin' the burn from the last census, when they really screwed up, expecting some people to fill out the long invasive form and others to fill out the short invasive form! That must not've worked for 'em!
